The following paintings are originals by Iosua Tai and Adrienne Taeoalii. These designs are available in signed reproduction print sizes 8"x10", 11"x14" and 16"x20".

Our paintings and visions are created with the use of photography, rattle cans, acrylics, markers/pens, brush strokes, Photoshop, handcut stencils and wood.

TECHNIQUE AND PROCESS

An image is photographed candidly on location or staged during a photo shoot. Photos are cropped, composed and contrast/colors are adjusted in Photoshop.

In Photoshop the desired image is ‘Cut out’ into separate layers, most often 5 layers of highlights and shadows. Those layers are each printed out onto Mylar paper and cut out, by hand, using an Exacto blade. Each layer is sprayed, one at a time, onto the canvas or wood with aerosols. Once all layers have been sprayed, a mask, or “Cookie-Cutter” is placed over the image and the background is then painted using brushes, acrylics, markers, free-hand rattle can techniques, stencils, etc.
