Iosua Tai Taeoalii bio
Iosua Tai Taeoalii (Josh), Samoan/American artist
and award winning filmmaker, was born and raised in
Murray, Utah. In 1995 Josh created his production
company, Weird Chief Pictures, and since then has
been producing and directing feature films and
television, including
Darkroom and
3.2 Percent. Maintaining
his passion for the arts, Josh has experimented with
many mediums including music, interior design,
tattoo, web design, architecture, poetry, graphic
design, TV-film production and he’s most
recently been dabbling in the world of the
landscaping arts. Josh’s love for the arts has kept
his mind occupied for the past three centuries and
he’s recently been fortunate enough to make a living
off of his artistic abilities. He is often
inspired by his wife Adrienne, daughter Nalei and
son Soul and owes thanks for any and all of his
accomplishments to his loving and supportive family
and friends.
Adrienne Nicole Taeoalii bio
Born and raised in Salt Lake City Utah, Adrienne
Taeoalii graduated from Hillcrest High in ’98 and
has always had a strong interest in music and the
arts. After a few summer-salts, a plate of pickles,
and meeting her husband (Iosua Tai), her art
interests were forced to become a daily part of her
life, when she and Iosua started selling their art
on eBay in 2005. Since then she has had the luxury
of using her creative noggin on a daily basis, and
at the same time make a
living out of it. She has been painting, designing,
writing, singing (mostly to herself and baby) and
recently rehabilitated her love
for photography. |
What is our medium, and the process?
Adrienne & Iosua Taeoalii's pop art paintings are
usually images of pop culture icons, but we do
custom pieces, and have done many personal pieces
from our own collection of photographs. Click
here to see photos of those. Anyway, a stencil
is designed in Photoshop from either a photograph or
a drawing by Iosua and printed, then handcut into a
stencil. (Every stencil is handcut, no
machines, no vinyl cutters....We're proud of that
fact). The stencil is then used to spray
paint the image usually onto masonite, but we really
will spray on anything. The backgrounds are
created using spray paint, marker, acrylic, etc. and
in most cases is a free-hand process.

What paint do we use?
Used to use American Accents, but all their newer
cans are garbage, so we've just made the switch,
finally, to IRONLAK cans which have more pressure
control and a much better color selection.
We're currently buying all of our paint, caps, etc.
supplies from
Oink Art LTD.
I sincerely suggest checking out Oink Art.
They've got what you need at a great price.
Every painting is an original. The stencil is
reused, however the colors and the backgrounds are
always different.
