The 3rd annual
Submerged in Art charity event is a gathering of Art & Music to benefit
The Road Home homeless shelter. On February 24th and 25th at
6pm located above the Tap Room on 2275 S. Highland Drive,
experience the intimate gathering which features over 15 artists exhibiting and
selling their paintings, sculptures and prints alongside DJ’s, spoken word, live
music performances and exciting silent auction items donated by over 30 Utah businesses.
The 2010 and 2011
events attracted considerable and enthusiastic crowds raising thousands of
dollars for The Road Home. Event Founder Iosua Tai Taeoalii states, “It’s now
our 3rd year and we’ve established that we know what we’re doing, we’ve proved
you can have a great time at a charity event, and so I expect everyone to join
us. We’ve even made it a two day event this year to be more accommodating to
your schedule.”
With a charitable
objective, Submerged in Art is an exposition of refreshing artistic
disciplines comprised of strictly Utah artists including Iosua Tai Taeoalii,
Adrienne Taeoalii, Daniel Overstreet, Darrell Driver, Mason Fetzer, Chris
Madsen, Ryan Worwood (Dusk), Adrian Prazen, Brian Gerber, Kali Mellus, Jorge Arellano Molina, Lucky Seven, Jared Knight, Sonya
Evans, Joshua L. Johnston, Alex Boyton, and Chris Oakley.
Intertwined with the
audio troposphere of DJ Sayo(Friday), DJ Street Jesus(Saturday)
and the hosting entertainment of Adam Sherlock and Johnny Riche, the evenings will
harness live performances by Uncle Scam, The Precinct, Pablo Blaqk, The Moth and the Flame, Brian
Bingham, Bellrave, Matt Mateus, Chivers Timbers, Mad Max and internationally
renowned poets Jesse Parent and Jean Howard along with other surprise performances.
Mission Statement:(Iosua Tai Taeoalii) All across the United States I've seen too much
uninspiring, conventionally-created art and I'm bored by it. I want to showcase
talent that is often overlooked, breaks free of the mold, exists outside of the
box and embraces innovative ideas. What better environment to showcase that kind
of work than a charity event that benefits the less fortunate. The 2012
Submerged in Art event will hopefully provide an eye-opening experience for the
seasoned and the novice art collectors. With a generous portion of the artist's
sales and ALL proceeds from the prize-drawings, silent auctions
and door donations benefitting the Road Home, I sincerely hope that Utahans will
come out to support.
